JOHN T. PAPPAS, DDS
Dr. Pappas' areas of focus are worn dentitions, cosmetic reconstruction, dental Implants, removable and fixed
dentures and temporomandibular disorders. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from West Virginia
University in 1973 and entered private practice in Wheeling, WV shortly thereafter. Eager to improve knowledge of TMJ and TMD in his local dental community, he began to organize seminars through the Society of Occlusal
Studies. While in private practice, Dr. Pappas continued his training in Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation at Case
Western Reserve Dental School and the University of Southern California.
Dr. Pappas began to study dental implants at the Heller Institute in Columbus, OH in 1987. He received a certification of completion in 1987 from the Misch Institute in Dearborn, MI.
In 1991 Dr. Pappas completed a Prosthodontic Specialty training program and received a certification in the specialty of Prosthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Pappas became a licensed specialist in Prosthodontics in West Virginia and is licensed as a general dentist in the state of Illinois.
Dr. Pappas expanded his training in cosmetics and porcelain at the Tanaka Institute of Skokie, IL where he learned the art of dental ceramics. As a previous lab owner and ceramist, Dr. Pappas has a true appreciation for the challenges faced by the lab and dentists in the fabrication of natural looking and comfortable ceramic crowns, bridges, and dentures secured by dental implants.
Dr. Pappas is well trained in the use of dental lasers for use in surgery, preparation of teeth without drills, and whitening procedures. He has also created many thousands of crowns using computer aided design and milling principles allowing him to create porcelain crowns in just one appointment.
Dr. Pappas is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the American Dental Association, International Team for Implantology, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and a Fellow of Rotary International.
